One of the big, old barns that scatter our landscape and look so incredible, many of which are still in use today. Sometimes you need to stop working and take a minute to let the beauty of it all soak in… As a kid, I soaked it all in on summer mornings. Others get their chores done later in the day, so they take in beautiful sunsets like this. (This painting is based off of a barn near Graf, Iowa.)
Rise, You were Meant to Shine!
If you ever needed a motivational saying and painting to go together, this is it! How amazing it is to walk country roads and soak in the world around you in the early morning hours. Peaceful. Quiet, yet not. Listen closely to the world around you at this hour and you can’t help but feel peace in the sounds you hear. This is a view from Marshall County, Iowa.
Happy Valley Lane
This scene was captured on a night where my husband and I went out looking for some beautiful scenery to capture. It was raining on and off all evening, but we were able to get some amazing views just south of Bellevue, Iowa as one of the storms was rolling off to the south. This painting is titled from a sign that was hanging on the gate where we stopped to take it all in.
Hole in the Sky
Another inspiring Iowa sunrise. If you don’t wake up early on summer mornings, you don’t know what you are missing! This title comes from a Minnesota Indian term that a good friend referenced when she first saw this painting. “Bugonaygeshig” means hole or opening in the sky or day. Even though the painting was captured near Wadena, in northeast Iowa, I felt Bugonaygeshig fit it perfectly!
As the Sun Sets
This painting is from an area near Dyersville, Iowa, but it could be any Midwest back yard or ball park! We have such amazing landscapes here with lines of trees scattered everywhere. The sun plays with the clouds and often creates an amazing scene in the last minutes before setting. You can’t beat a sunset in rural Iowa!
Sunset at the Soccer Complex
A beautiful sunset falling on an icon that all Dubuquers know! Maybe you know where it is because your kids or grandkids play soccer, maybe it just reminds you of a great city. I loved this sunset so much that I had to include it in this series.
